On Event Production Co. were recently commissioned by global travel giants Expedia to produce a head-turning exhibition booth for this year’s Millennial 2020 Summit, which looked into the future of business from the perspective of the digitally-savvy consumer.
Hosted at Victoria House on Bloomsbury Square in London from 12 – 14 April 2016, the event brought together some 3,000 start-up businesses, brands, retailers and corporates and featured three curated conference stages, four industry sector tracks, 150 speakers, 40 experiential exhibitors and four live immersive showcases.
Expedia, one of the sponsors of this year’s event, examined the ‘Future of Travel’ and wanted to create an experience that would demonstrate how airlines, tourism boards and new start-ups are using the latest technologies to let travellers explore before they step foot onto a plane.
The team at On pulled out all the stops to produce the innovative ‘Sky Lounge’ for Expedia. This featured a variety of hi-tech experiences, including Delta Airlines’ innovative virtual reality/augmented reality viewed through Oculus Rift glasses and 360 films produced by Tourism Australia for Samsung VR Gear headsets, Google Cardboard and its own suite of apps to showcase the country’s many landscapes and hidden gems. We also created a bar area where visitors could relax and network.
Expedia also teamed up with what3words to showcase how technology makes travelling better. what3words has given every 3m x 3m square on the planet a unique three-word address, which enables anything in the world to be located using the free what3words app.
Commenting on the event, Guy Eaton, managing director of On, said:
“Working with Expedia for this year’s Millennial 20/20 Summit has been a fantastic experience, which really enabled us to showcase our creative and technical skills. We worked alongside The 4th Wave, live communications agency, for the design element of the stand and the joint team enjoyed working on the project immensely.
“The stand proved a hit with everyone at the event and it was a great opportunity to see so many talented people coming together to discuss how technology will make the travel experience better for the Millennial generation and beyond,” added Guy.
Guest speakers at the event included Rio Ferdinand, Intercontinental Hotels CEO, Formula-E CEO, FarFetch CMO, Pepsico Head of Digital, Selfridges Head of Digital Marketing and many more speakers from companies such as Uber, Trip Advisor, Cambridge Satchel Company, McDonalds and Jamie Oliver.
Here at On Event Production Co. we provide an innovative range of audio and visual production services together with custom design and manufacture of creative sets and scenery.
