A little earlier this year we teamed up with Manchester-based sport marketing agency, Ear to the Ground, to create an innovative activation for the London leg of the 2016 Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder Challenge. Featured at all Tough Mudder events around the country, the Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder is a one-mile obstacle mud run designed specifically for adventure-seeking kids.
Working with AO.com, the team at Ear to the Ground created the perfect photo opportunity for families at the end of the race…The AO.com Mini Mudder Machine.
The 13ft Hotpoint washing machine stood at the end of the race and provided a fun shower experience for the muddy kids after crossing the finish line.
The washing machine, which was put together by our in-house fabrication department, ended up being 4.5m high, with a 2m diameter drum and contained a bubble machine to add to the experience.
Housing a 3D photo booth children could climb in the drum from some steps at the side and have their photo taken inside, whilst the actual shower trailer was located behind the washing machine installation.
Since it was launched in 2010, 200 Tough Mudder events have taken place across the UK, attracting thousands of participants and raising more than £5m for charity.
Speaking of the project, Guy Eaton, managing director at On, said:
“It’s not often that a client brief surprises us as we’ve seen just about everything in the business, but being asked to create a gigantic washing machine is certainly a first!
“This was the first time we’ve worked with the team at Ear to the Ground – they were a delight to work with and I hope we’ll be able collaborate again in the future!”
Leanne Kilheeney from Ear To The ground said; “On Productions delivered a high standard finish in a very quick turn around. The team were extremely professional and worked well collaboratively to produce an activation that we are certainly proud of. We are looking forward to work together again in the future.”
