Our client was looking to stage an important communications event for top managers from across the UK who were coming together in new teams over a two-day period and wanted an informal evening gathering. The emphasis was on ensuring that it would have a very relaxed and friendly vibe – so after brainstorming a few ideas, we decided to create a bit of a festival theme!
As the event was being held in one of the large, fairly impersonal halls in the NEC, we needed to create a space that had real personality and intimacy.
Our creative experts here at On provided technical production for the event which included lighting, sound, staging and video as well as developing the concept and carrying out the installation across three areas; A conference auditorium, a daytime catering area and an evening event space comprising of a variety of street food stalls and outdoor games.

We crafted furniture to look like wooden pallets, used beer barrels as drinks tables and installed trestle tables and benches to emphasise the festival feel to the event.
Festoon lighting was used from the trusses and our lighting designer developed an elegant relaxed theme to accompany the evening using LED Wash’s and our Clay Paky Mythos 2 hybrid moving head fixtures to provide break-ups.
