First up, KH Hair.
Regional hair salon chain, KH Hair Group, asked us to help produce a spectacular show and awards dinner for almost 200 of their stylists in 2018.
As the iconic Roundhouse in Derby was the backdrop, we built a bespoke set complete with suspended mirrored shards and a stage to beautifully compliment the environment. This including a custom-made, catwalk-style stage with interjecting platforms, overhead screens, and feature lighting to bring it all to life. We loved working on this job, especially since it was our fourth time working with the guys at KH. Plus, when the outcome looks as spectacular as this, what’s not to like?
Disney’s Finding Dory
When global movie giants, The Walt Disney Company, released Finding Dory back in 2016, we were delighted to have been asked to provide full production services for their London press conference.
We kicked this one off by applying a creative treatment to their artwork and designed and built a themed backdrop, which introduced one of the new main characters of the film, Hank the Octopus. We also included a photo-floor stage consisting of a changing ocean-bed. Delivering our full-production approach, we were also responsible for the lighting and sound to support those on-stage, including the voice-of-Dory, actress, Ellen DeGeneres, and writer and director, Andrew Stanton. Taking a cue from the film itself, we created the vivid colours and atmosphere that are synonymous with the film franchise, complete with marine plants flanking the back of the stage!
Virgin Media Business Awards
On have enjoyed a long partnership with Virgin Media and we were delighted to join forces with the brand once again in 2018. The brief was to deliver staging and full technical production for the Virgin Media Business Awards, hosted by none other than Richard Branson himself.
With the event taking place in front of a live audience at London’s Tobacco Dock, as well as being streamed live on the web, we had to ensure the event was on-brand and facilitated maximum audience engagement.
We supplied a giant 30m x 3m LED video screen, which provided a 12k pixels-wide canvas for content to be displayed. It was built in three sections to tie in with the brand and make the set feel totally immersive.
We liaised with content designers to ensure all on-screen content would work in such an irregular format, checking it wouldn’t be too busy and distracting to a live audience.
To compliment the screen, we also designed and constructed a 10m wide split-level triangular stage finished in high gloss flooring and fascia. Impressive, right?
Global Connections Event
When events are held in big, beautiful venues, it’s a shame to cover them up with screens and sets. So, when a financial services provider asked us to help them create a series of events in historical UK buildings, we knew we needed to create something spectacular whilst allowing the beauty of the venue to shine through.
As well as creating something that wouldn’t hide the building’s beauty, another challenge was building something that was scalable, transportable and impactful to fit in different size venues.
We made gauze panels which allowed guests to see through the set, revealing the silhouette of the venue behind. We illuminated the panels with LED lighting on the inside, front and outside faces, creating a stunning glow. Two of the panels were made to be projection surfaces too!
All panels were connected together, illustrating the theme, “Global Connections”.
Motivating Sales Teams
Sometimes stage design for events helps provide the opportunity to for us to flex our creative muscles. Showing that corporate events can be just as engagingly presented as live music events.
For this project, On was tasked by the client to produce an inspirational show to motivate a sales team. The brief was to create a set to signify the importance of working together as one team.
To illustrate the brief, we designed and created a structural stage set made of giant cogs and integrated high-definition screens. We then lit the stage with theatrical lighting to give depth and perspective to the setting.
The result was stunning, a production with drama and relevance that helped fuel the content and delivery of the seminar. Just take a peek!
As you can see, there are endless possibilities when it comes to creative stage design for events.
If you’re looking at creating a stage that’ll wow audiences and really make an impact, On can help.
We don’t just build sets. We understand how you want to express yourself.
Allow us to help you put on a show that lingers long in the memories of your audience.
